Lessons - One-on-One, Small Groups, Rates

All lessons take place online until further notice. When safe to do so, I greatly look forward to resuming in-person lessons, in my classroom in a historic building in downtown Berkeley.

One-on-One Lessons:

Most of my students meet with me once a week for an hour. For students who are caught up on their day-to-day work, this is usually the perfect amount of time to review what has been covered since the last lesson, place new material in a broader mathematical context, and assist with the completion of the current assignment.

For students in especially challenging courses such as Calculus or Physics, those who have fallen behind in a course, or those who would otherwise benefit from more time for review or reinforcement, longer lessons or meeting more than once a week are also possible.

Rate for one-on-one lessons is $160 per hour

Small Groups:

Small group lessons have the obvious benefit of being more affordable. A less-obvious advantage is the energy and enthusiasm that can occur in a small group. When students work with one another to overcome and master a difficult problem or challenging concept, the weaker and stronger students alike benefit from each others' questions and answers and feel the motivation that comes with seeing their peers working to improve themselves.

Students should be in the same Math or Physics class and be able to commit to the same weekly meeting time for the remainder of the semester.

Rate for classes of 2-4 students is $90 per student per hour.

Cancellation Policy:

For non-emergency cancellations, I ask for one week's notice. Simply inform me of the cancellation during the previous week's lesson or earlier.

For non-emergency cancellations with less than one week's notice, I charge a 50% cancellation fee if we are unable to reschedule the lesson that week.

For same-day non-emergency cancellations or no-shows, I charge for the lesson in full.
